John Stuart

John David Stuart, age 78, of Festus, Missouri, passed away Saturday, April 5, 2025, at his home. He was born September 14, 1946, in Bonne Terre, Missouri, the son of the late Vera (nee O’Dell) and Alonzo Stuart.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years Beverly (nee Portell) Stuart; children Jeff (Diana) Stuart of Farmington, Missouri, Christy Lynn (Tim) Barnes of Farmington, Missouri; Robyn Lynn Doerrer of Lake St. Louis, Missouri; Jennifer Sue (Michelle) Coleman of Crystal City, Missouri; and Becki Schnarr of Montgomery City, Missouri; brothers Harold (Dorris) Stuart of Ballwin, Missouri; and Tom (Brenda) Stuart of Farmington, Missouri; grandchildren Christopher Stuart, Katie Stuart, Lindsay Doerrer, Emma Doerrer, Kyle Barnes, Molly (Eric) Berry, Collin Stafford, Alysa Walker, Baylee Hanewinkle, Regan Hanewinkle, Bethany (Justin) Ostendorf, Jacob (Ariel)Book, and Kayla Book; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by brothers Ray (the late Maxine) Stuart, Jim Stuart, and Alonzo (the late Helen) Stuart, Jr., and a grandson Jordan David Stafford.

John was a retired maintenance supervisor for the Bayless School District; member of Our Lady Catholic Church in Festus and Knights of Columbus Council #14402; Past Exalted Ruler and member of Elks #1721; and along with his wife Bev, served as the 2019 Presidents of the Missouri Federation of Square and Round Dance Clubs, and was inducted into the Missouri Caller/Cuer Hall of Fame in 2012.

Visitation will be 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at Vinyard Funeral Home in Festus. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM Thursday, April 10, 2025, at Our Lady Church in Festus, officiated by Fr. Michael Boehm. Memorials in John’s memory are preferred to the American Cancer Society.
