Larry Liebig
Amity, Missouri

2008 Caller / Cuer Hall of Fame

Larry began square dancing in 1968, and began calling in 1980. To be professional, he attended Cat Golden Calling School in Arkansas. He initiated lessons in 1985 for 5 couples, and upon completion the Trenton T~Squares was formed. After 23 years, there are 28 members enjoying square dancing.

Larry calls and gives lessons for: Trenton T-Squares, Trenton, Mo; Maysville Wranglers, Maysville, Missouri; Winter Ranch RV Park, Alamo, Texas, and calls for Hoot-N-Hollers, Harrisonville, Missouri. He guest calls for numerous other clubs in Missouri, Iowa, and Nebraska on a regular basis. Twelve states from Alaska to South Texas have had the opportunity to dance to his calling. As of October, 2007, he has attended and called for 20 consecutive Missouri State Festivals. The 25 year service award was presented to him from the Missouri State Federation of Callers. In addition, he has called in the Iowa and Alaska State Dances.

Larry is a tireless promoter of square dancing everywhere he goes. Many exhibitions are called each year in nursing homes, churches, children's camps, senior centers, and shopping centers. His car always carries extra equipment to be used or loaned to fellow callers when break downs occur. Many charitable organizations have benefited from his time and talent, including Relay for Life, Asthma Foundation, Camp Quality, YMCA Counselors Camp, and one heart transplant fundraiser in Iowa. Another charitable activity he has participated in is re-building homes in hurricane Katrina damaged Louisiana and Mississippi.

Larry is currently a member of American Callers Association, and Mid Missouri Callers Association. He is a former member of the Kansas City Callers Association.

For these reasons Larry Liebig is being named the 2008 Caller of the Year.
