Dave Roush
Hurdland, Missouri
2022 Caller / Cuer Hall of Fame
These square dancers have been dancing since 1978. From California to Maine, Washington to Georgia, and now living here in Missouri the man of this couple helped with their club by assisting with beginner lessons. Soon he was asked to call at a dance and later went to caller school where he graduated in 1998.
He soon realized the true need for square dancers in the upper NE part of Missouri. From this realization he started two clubs and taught many new dancers. No matter how many students there were he would continue lessons. The list goes on. In Illinois, starting as an assistant club caller, later becoming the club caller. Later he became caller of even another club.
This caller not only has called dances for clubs from Mt. Home, Arkansas to Wisconsin, been president of the SE Iowa Callers Association, member of the Illinois Callers Association, making him a ‘tri-state” caller, also loves to do one-night stands and party dances, a passion for working with young dancers.
He continues calling for school events, 4H, and FFA events. He is licensed through the Mid-Mo Caller’s association, the Illinois Callers association, has called at 9 National conventions, 22 Mo state festivals, 21 Iowa state conventions, 21 Illinois State conventions and 2 Wisconsin State conventions plus 20 NE District dances. This caller does not call for the salary, but for the pure enjoyment of calling and giving everyone the opportunity to enjoy square dancing. He and his wife live in Hurdland, Mo and he is the caller and cuer for the Country Squares.
The NE district and the Missouri Federation of Square ’N Dance Clubs presents the 2022 Caller Cuer Hall of Fame winner. He is so very qualified. May we represent our new winner, Dave Roush, along with his wife Ann.
