Puxico Country Squares
Puxico Country Squares first
square dance lessons were offered in the fall of 1981 at the Puxico VFW hall. In
January of 1982 the club was organized and the name of Puxico Country Squares
was chosen.
Club colors were red and navy
blue.
Puxico Country Squares had 35
charter members. Only three of the charter members are still dancing today. Dale
& Margaret Ann Sifford were the first presidents. The first caller and teacher
were Dale & Betty Phillips of Cape Girardeau, Missouri.
The club became a member of
the Missouri Federation of Square & Round Dance in June of 1982. The club still
has an average of 35 members today and still dances twice a month at the Puxico
VFW hall.
