The Unicorn Square Dance Club
The Unicorn Square Dance Club was formed and held their first Dance in September
1982 at the Riverside Youth Center with Clyde Wood as their caller. In January
1983 there were 14 members And the club dances were held at the Gladstone
Community Center on the second and fourth Wednesday. Our club was federated in
October of 1983. Club sponsors were Do-Si-Doers, Ramblers, Y-N-Dot Squares and
Pistols and Petticoats. Rose Selleck was the first Club President.
Clyde Wood served as caller for the club from 1982-1985 and moved to Texas. Gene
Miller has been our Club Caller since 1985.
We have 4 active Charter Members since December 1983 ? Leann Chapman, Reta Graf,
Roy Vance and Ed Walker.
We have been a singles club with 2 married couples - who married and remained
members of the club. We presently have 23 members. Since November 2006 - we
accept all square dancers who are over 18 as members. We presently have 23 club
members.
Since September 2006 we are dancing at the Meadowbrook United Methodist Church
at 2800 NE 64th St in Gladstone, Missouri on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays from
7:30 -10:00 PM. We have danced at the Gladstone Community Center for about 20
years.
We dance Mainstream & Plus and do Banner Stealing, we have a One square banner.
We also dance during the summer season.
We had a Unicorn Cookbook published in 1985.

Heart of America Federation of Square Dance Clubs and The Missouri Federation of
Square & Round Dance Clubs (Northwest District)
