Ronald 'Mac' McReynolds

Ronald (Mac) Clyde McReynolds (87) Joplin, MO passed away November 23, 2024 at 5:30 am. Ronald was born May 30, 1937, in Joplin, MO. to John Morris McReynolds and Etta Marie (Turner) McReynolds. He graduated from Joplin High School in 1955. He received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Management Technology, Associate Degree in Science in Law Enforcement and General Business at Missouri Southern State University.

Upon graduation he joined the Armed Forces and served a combined total of 21 years. He served in three branches; Air Force (August 1966-December 1960) , Army National Guard (March 1971-September 1983), and retired Navy (September 1983-December 1986). He received the Recruiting Command Award for the State of Missouri in 1977.

After serving in Armed Forces he worked several jobs over his lifetime. Some of his most memorable jobs included: working for the MSSU Athletic Department where he was a member of the 1972 staff of the National Championship Football Team that was inducted in to the Athletic Hall of Fame. He proudly wore the National Ring. He was the first assistant manager for McDonald's in Joplin in 1961, served in law enforcement in Newton County and then drove a school bus for the Joplin School District for 15-1/2 years.

He was a member of the Joplin First Church and the Tri-M Sunday School Class. As well, he was a past member of the church board and trustees and the church choir. He is the First Vice President of the 203rd Houn Dawg Retiree Association. He was also a member of the Missouri Southern Linebackers Club and the Western Twirlers Square Dance Club.

His hobby was square dancing where for several years he was a club caller for Muddy Creek Squares in Lamar and Eagle Picher Square in Joplin.

He married Sheila (Fast) on June 28, 1992.

He was preceded in death by his parents John and Etta, step-father Art Rodgers and son Ronald Scott McReynolds. He is survived by his wife, Sheila; Brother-In-law, Taylor Fast, Wichita, Ks; step-daughters; Patricia (Trish) McMahan, Anderson Mo: Tamela (Larry) Dighero, Carthage, Mo; Allison Dugan, Lamar, Mo; grandson; Eric McReynolds, Gladstone, Mo.; Step grand-children; Kassi (Charles) Richmond, Carthage, Mo; Rachel (Justin) Ehrsam, Lamar, Mo; Matt Dugan and Fiancé Lauren, Pittsburg, KS.; Brandon (Jessica) Dighero, Nevada, MO; Kiia (Shawn) Zoglemann, Nevada, Mo; four great-grandchildren; Henry and Bethany Richmond and Stella and Raelynn Ehrsam.

Visitation will be Wednesday, November 27, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at First Church in Joplin, with funeral services to directly follow visitation. Cremation will follow the service and burial of ashes will take place at a later date at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery in Joplin.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to either Tri-M Class at First Church or the 203rd Hound Dog Retirees Association, both in care of the mortuary.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin, Missouri.
